The cover of this rhyming farmyard tale hints at the high jinks to come. A naughty sheep swings merrily on a scarf pegged to the clothesline, next to a pair of horse-patterned shorts. But it’s not only the sheep who’s up to mischief. A friendly gang of farm animals – from chooks to llamas – nick the farmer’s clothes. Even his glasses and boots!
The farmer was sad and cried and cried. He couldn’t work and had to hide.
Thank goodness the animals have a change of heart. Before long the farmer has (almost all) his clothes back.
Author Tim Saunders is a real-life farmer, working with sheep and beef. His story is fun to read aloud and Martell’s colourful illustrations bring the suspense and adventure to life. There’s something surprising on every page – keep an eye out for the cow’s necklace, the beehive with its buzzing bees, and the soccer-playing horse. Great for ages 3 to 6 – especially children who love animals.
