Wham! George and Me by Andrew Ridgeley

Wham! were the band that harnessed the power of pop and provided a memorable soundtrack of the 1980s.

What started out as a childhood friendship in the 1970s, catapulted two suburban teens, to worldwide pop fame in 1981. Andrew and Yog met at school and soon discovered their shared passion for music. Inspired by the sheer joy of music they decided to form a band and began to pursue what most family and friends viewed as an impossible teenage dream. Known to friends as Yog, Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou reinvented himself as the late George Michael.

After their first appearance on television’s Top of the Pops, they found overnight fame. For the next four years, Andrew and George toured the world playing sold out stadiums and arenas.

For the first time, one half of the iconic pop band Andrew shares his personal story of their early days and finding fame as pop sensations. Andrew reveals the truth behind the triumphs, heartbreaks and their enduring friendship. Wham! George and Me is an easy, honestly written and candid read, although I’m sure Andrew could have provided deeper insight in some instances. Regardless, it’s a must-read for Wham! fans and 1980s music lovers. Read some Wham! fun facts here.

Andrew now pursues fundraising and charity work in England, where he lives.
