To Catch A Cloud by Elena de Roo, Illustrated by Hannah Peck

Ah, clouds. They’re fluffy and light, like candy floss or a comforting pillow; they’re sky-scraping, perennial shapeshifters that we can lie back and project our fantasies on to… that one’s a dolphin! Now it looks like a dragon!

Well, have you ever dreamed about catching a cloud? The kid in this book does… and because it’s a kid's book, of course he might get it - anything is possible!

What starts off as an innocent clamber across the hills in pursuit of said cloud becomes a full-scale adventure against the elements as the boy bolts off in a boat, the sky turns stormy and the cloud’s heavenly whiteness gives way to grey. What will happen when the wind blows the boy’s boat to bits?

The illustrations are sure to entice and enchant, and the lilt of the rhyming text beautifully complements the catch-me-if-you-can to and fro between boy and cloud.

Whimsical and wonderful, it’s the perfect book for reading aloud to your tamariki outdoors on a blanket under a tree.
