This a cookbook endorsed by Allergy New Zealand so is designed for people with food allergies, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Coeliac Disease. I am fortunate not to have any of these problems, so as always, I am reviewing this book as an avid home cook and looking at the recipes to see if they are tasty and easy-to-use.
The opening of the book deals with the author’s story, and introduction information before we get to the recipe sections: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Sweet Treats, Feast, suggested menus and ‘FODMAP Fixings.’
The recipes are easy-to-use, delicious, and there is attractive colour photography throughout. The standout recipes for me so far are: Poached Eggs with Lemon Hollandaise Sauce, Curried Mince on Toast, Saucy Egg Shakshuka, Caramelised Beetroot, Pumpkin & Feta Salad, Beef Enchiladas, and Lemongrass & Coriander Pork Meatballs with Stir-fried Veggies.
Even if you don’t suffer an allergy, this would be a great cookbook to add to your collection, and if you do have an allergy, you will have the peace of mind that this food is safe to eat.
