The Art of Food by Paul Marshall and Tony Richards

I’ve never seen a cookbook quite like The Art of Food before. The entire book is beautifully designed with retro-style illustrations rather than photographs. It’s a very stylish result, with the design and illustrations by Paul Marshall, and the recipes by Paul Marshall and Tony Richards, both passionate home cooks.

There are over 60 recipes with starters, mains and desserts. There are recipes here from New Zealand and around the world. The recipes that stood out for me are Chicken and Sweetcorn Soup, Grilled Asparagus and Halloumi Salad, Stuffed Red Bell Peppers with Rocket Salad, Chicken with Lime and Coconut, Braised Beef in Brasato al Barolo Red Wine Sauce, Stuffed Chicken with Lemons and Potatoes (this recipe worked really well), and the Upside Down Peach Cake with Ice Cream.

The recipes are simple but stylish, and the entire production is a visual feast! The Art of Food would make a lovely gift, as well as being a book any home cook would enjoy having in their kitchen.
