If you are a “block-aholic”, then Rooms To Love, by LeeAnn Yare & Larnie Nicolson, is the book for you. This is a beautifully presented and designed book about home interiors, and some exteriors too. Author and interior designer, LeeAnn Yare, describes herself as “quirky, fun, mixed, not matched and ever-evolving and her book matches her perfectly.
This is not one of those glossy interior design books with French wardrobes, cathedral ceilings, fluffed up curtains, and antique kitchen stoves. This book is full of modern, liveable houses full of light and colour. You get the feeling that these are “real” rooms in which people actually live and love. And most importantly, for the most part, you flick through this book thinking “I could do that”. and seeding . Full of our old chairs, mismatched tables, quirky pottery and 1970s glassware, the featured furniture and furnishings are gathered from far and wide across New Zealand – and I think you could do much of this on a budget.
Rooms To Love is full of clever design. Even the book design is clever and original…based around colours and feelings, and very vibrant. Larnie Nicolson’s photography is exquisite. Utterly perfect composition and tones.
If you are renovating, or just love looking at interesting rooms and houses, you will love this book. If you are thinking about entering TV3’s The Block, then this is essentially preparation! A great Christmas gift for new home buyers and old home owners.
