New Book Fair Connects Kiwi Authors with Auckland Book Lovers

NEW BOOK FAIR CONNECTS KIWI AUTHORS WITH AUCKLAND BOOK LOVERS

Books from our Backyard is a brand new book fair for New Zealand based authors to share their work with Auckland bibliophiles. It is being held on Sunday 15th November, from 9am to 3pm, at St Columba Centre in Ponsonby, Auckland. The event is free admission.

The fair is bringing together over 40 New Zealand authors and 150 different titles, across a wide range of genres including romance, historical fiction, mystery, horror, LGBTQIA fiction, fantasy, young adult, and children’s books. For readers, it’s a chance to discover new books, meet authors in person, pick up summer reads and stock up on Christmas gifts.

Books from our Backyard is organised by Auckland-based authors Jamie Sands and Anna Klein. “We wanted to create a space that brought authors and readers together,” says Klein, who writes romance fiction. “A place for authors, particularly after this year with the impact of COVID-19, to be able to showcase their books. It’s an event for all book lovers, the people who love to read them and the people who love to write them.”

Sands, an urban fantasy author, agrees. “We liked the idea of readers and authors meeting. That’s what we want to create, an event that’s fun, inclusive and exciting, an early summer day out celebrating New Zealand books.”
