The latest twisty, mind-bending novel from million-copy bestselling author Alice Feeney has already been optioned by Hollywood, and it’s easy to see why.
Eden Fox and her husband, Harrison, have recently moved to the small fishing village of Hope Falls, and Eden has enjoyed renovating Spyglass, the home they have recently purchased.
Eden is a shy artist and is about to have her first exhibition. That morning, she goes for her usual run, but when she returns home, she finds her key won’t fit the lock. A woman who looks a lot like her, but ten years older, answers the door. Her husband appears, insisting this strange woman is his wife, and the day gets even more distressing when she can’t convince anyone that she is the real Eden Fox.
Six months earlier, another character, Birdy, had received a devastating diagnosis and had travelled from London to Hope Falls after inheriting the Spyglass House from her grandmother. Birdy doesn’t stay in Hope Falls long, however, but returns a second time after a secret London clinic claims to be able to predict the day she will die. When she returns the second time, she wants to fix a wrong, as the line between truth and lies blurs, and long-held secrets are revealed.
It’s impossible to write about this novel further without giving spoilers, but it’s the perfect blend of mystery and deception, where nothing is as it first seems. It’s masterfully written and will have you frantically turning the pages to the pitch-perfect ending. A story of love and revenge, lies and obsession, this is an exceptional psychological thriller.
