My Body is Talking to Me by Gloria Masters, illustrated by Ashton Slagter

An important picture book for any family with young children, this rhyming story teaches children, in age-appropriate language, simple body-safety rules to keep them safe from sexual abuse, in a positive, engaging story.
The book encourages children to trust their feelings and notice their body’s warning signs, like a tummy feeling funny or hands squeezing tight. It explains that if something doesn't feel right, they should go to an adult who makes them feel safe and happy.
The illustrations are colourful and appealing, giving the book a friendly look while still addressing a serious subject. Along the way, Buddy the Robin appears to help them feel safe.
My Body is Talking to Me also highlights the Global Hand Sign that is already saving young people from harm. Written by a survivor, this is a well-considered resource.
