Muki and Pickles by Ross Murray

Updated: Oct 18, 2021

Ross Murray is an illustrator whose clients include Lonely Planet, Marvel and Disney, and he has recently released a children’s picture book, Muki and Pickles.

The story follows the adventures of two rabbits, Muki and Pickles, who are best friends. They are out in the woods exploring one morning when they spot one last peach on the tree across the stream. They work together to get across the water to pick it up, learning how to tie knots and build a raft. But a surprise awaits them across the water.

Muki and Pickles is a delightful story about friendship, resourcefulness, and the joy of working together to solve a problem. It’s told with delightful humour. The illustrations are superb, fun and they use an appealing colour palette. And it’s enjoyable to see the text included as speech bubbles, giving it a lovely children’s comic book touch.

As a fabulous bonus, an appendix includes how to tie several knots and a recipe for an Upside-Down Peach Cake that looks delicious!
