This debut picture book by Becky Overeem is truly special, one that every family with young children should have in their home. This is an engaging and practical book for any child facing worry or anxiety, offering proven, practical ways to navigate their worries and find calm.

In the story, the central character has many worries despite being told he is too young to worry so much. All of his worries are common concerns that children may face in real life at any time. But his little worries are becoming big worries, until he can’t concentrate, and he feels tired all the time.

‘My tummy feels like there are lions fighting in it... My head feels like it is full of loud, buzzing bees.’

What can he do? It turns out there is a lot he can do to worry less, starting with the question, ‘Is my worry worth worrying about?’ What can he control, fix, sort or change? That advice starts him on a journey of discovery, as he learns to discard some of his worries and have fun again.

The story is beautifully and sensitively written, and there are practical tips and guidance for parents and caregivers at the back. Sarah Trolle’s artwork is colourful and appealing, and adds fun visual elements that brings the emotions in the book to life.

Go grab a copy and add it to your home or school library. Is My Worry Worth Worrying About? is a must-have read for every family with children.
