Chef Al Brown has a life-long love of fishing and Hooked brings his joy to the page in this comprehensive new book. Whether casting a line from a wharf, navigating a stream with a fly rod, or fishing from a kayak or boat, Hooked is packed with essential tips and techniques. Readers can learn a karakia, how to tie knots, bait hooks, cast lures, and fillet and cook your catch. Brown includes ten of his most-loved fish recipes, some of which are Depot classics.

Hooked was a wonderful surprise - its a unique blend of reference, how-to, humour, recipes, education and nostalgia. Fishing is full of its own lingo, but Brown breaks everything down, making it accessible for everyone regardless of fishing prowess. Brown's love of fishing and the environment really shines throughout each page.

It's also a visual treat, with vibrant artwork from illustrator Hope McConnell. From a beautiful double spread of a child and dog heading out in a dinghy, to the intricate drawings of knots, McConnell's artwork is stunning and full of joy. Every illustration is fresh, fun and colourful. We pored over the pages before immediately renewing our fishing licences. Fishing enthusiasts and aspiring anglers will be hooked.
