The Sharesies Guide to Investing by Brooke and Leighton Roberts and Sonya Williams

The Sharesies Guide to Investing is the perfect guide for anyone contemplating using the online investing platform Sharesies. It answers all the questions you have in easy-to-understand language. It includes the Sharesies story, which I thought was very positive and inspirational.

It covers why you should invest, what to invest in and the sort of returns you might expect. The book looks at buying local or international shares and investing to make a difference (making choices to support ethical or environmentally-friendly companies rather than arms dealers).

It looks at how to know when to sell and how to cope with a downturn in the market. So, in a nutshell, there is all the information you will need in one easy-to-read book.

Once investing to invest in the sharemarket, you were likely to be an older male, so it is encouraging that this book makes it easy for younger people of any background to invest in shares. The authors certainly make it appealing that you could just invest, say, $5 a week and, over time, make good inroads to help secure your financial future.

The Sharesies Guide to Investing is a well-written, practical book that is the opposite of dry and boring.
