Miniwings: Firestorm's Musical Muck-Up by Sally Sutton Illustrated by Kirsten Richards

If you haven't already met Moonlight, Glitterwing, Whizz, Comet, Firestorm and Oceana, you're in for a treat! Each of the flying toy horses comes to life when adults aren't looking. Firestorm's Musical Muck-Up is the fourth book in the delightful Miniwings series.

In this book, Firestorm is the hero, or chief troublemaker. While sisters Clara and Sophia are preparing to perform in the school orchestra, Miniwings stow away in their instrument cases and mischief soon unfolds.

Firestorm's Musical Muck-Up has a magical plot with adorable fun characters. The series is wonderfully illustrated in full colour throughout. There's even a super cute dictionary of Miniwing-ese! This book is ideal for kids aged seven years and over who also enjoyed Go Girl and Elastic Island Adventures: Jewel Lagoon.

Sally Sutton is the award winning author of rhyming picture books Roadworks, Demolition and Construction. She lives in Auckland. Kirsten Richards is the bestselling children's book illustrator of The Littlest Pilgrim. Originally from the United Kingdom, she now lives in Auckland.

Additional notes:

The first Miniwings book was a 2018 Storylines Notable Book, and the latest in the series is another delightful, lively read. Six gorgeous winged toy horses come to life when the adults aren’t looking. In this instalment, sisters Clara and Sophia are determined to keep it a secret that a herd of real-life flying horses are living right under everyone’s noses. But those cheeky Miniwings seem intent on trying to ruin their performance in the school orchestra – causing havoc when they press the fire alarm bell! The illustrations are adorable, and the plotline hits the right spot between sweetness and humour. Kids 7+.
