This is a beautiful personal journal for recording final wishes, closing reflections and detailing your last legacy. Created by two friends, Penny Tucker and Rebecca Zwitser, it came about after getting to talk about the tricky subject of death and how to manage it. The result is a journal that is both practical and inspirational, based on the notebook that Penny’s mother flippantly called her ‘death’ book – but now transformed into a lovely template for other families.
The book is divided into the following sections with room to write and add whatever the book owner wants to:
My life and legacy: this section offers the opportunity to comment on elements of your life that you want to share or help people to understand, remember and reflect on.
The next section is for treasured memories, thanks and things – so the book owner can speak directly to people who have made an impact on their life.
The third section is a great space to add interesting and amusing anecdotes from the family tree.
The fourth section is the practical, specific information for how you want to be sent off.
Nuts and Bolts has a place to record the administrative side of your estate.
Finally, there is space to write quotes and thoughts about anything that is important.
Last Writes is very well done and will be a helpful and treasured book for immediate families following the death of a loved one. It is a template that will create a wonderful blueprint for relatives, that manages to be wonderfully life-affirming although dealing frankly with death.
