I am Doodle Cat, by Kat Patrick & Lauren Marriott

I am Doodle Cat, by Kat Patrick and Lauren Marriott, is a story about a tomato-coloured cat who only knows what it loves. Those things include lentils, a rug, fractals and farts. Sound kooky? Well, yes, it is. It’s also a little bit wonderful.

The simple bright illustrations appeal to my five-month old, and the oddballness of the story means there’s plenty of growing into to be done. I am Doodle Cat balances a simple story about celebrating what we love with plenty of opportunities for further learning. What is a factual? How are farts made? What are stars?, these questions and more are answered in a neat info page at the back of the book.

First time author Kat Patrick and quirky illustrator Lauren Marriott have created something wonderful. I am Doodle Cat is sure to become a firm favourite.
