Win a copy of My Family and Other Animals, by Gerald Durrell!

Escaping the ills of the British climate, the Durrell family – acne-ridden Margo, gun-toting Leslie, bookworm Lawrence and budding naturalist Gerry, along with their long suffering mother and Roger the dog – take off for the island of Corfu.

But the Durrells find that, reluctantly, they must share their various villas with a menagerie of local fauna – among them scorpions, geckos, toads, bats and butterflies.

Recounted with immense humour and charm My Family and Other Animals is a wonderful account of a rare, magical childhood.

A tv tie-in edition published to coincide with Prime’s new six-part drama The Durrells, premiering Wednesday 26th October, 8.30pm on Prime.

Loving the new series already. It’s great to see the locals played by genuine Greek actors, but who can forget Brian Blessed as Spiro in the original series? I’ll be watching every episode. For those who don’t know, Gerald Durrell was the David Attenborough of the pre-television era. I loved every book.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode of The Durrells, and remember reading a couple of Gerald Durrell books at school, back in the 70s!

I won this as a prize at school when yr 9 was called 3rd form. the cover looked dreadful but when I started reading, I loved the book. However I don’t have the original copy anymore and I would love to share it with my son who is now the same age as i was then.
